Stephen Moor, stained glass artist

I am fascinated by stained glass creations and I recently discovered the work of a lesser known mid century stained glass artist, Stephen Moor.

From the Australian Women’s Weekly, 7 January 1970:

Born in Hungary, [Moor] became a lecturer, at the Academy of Arts in Budapest. After the war he continued with stained-glass work in West Germany until he migrated to Sydney 19 years ago.

He came under the normal two-year labor contract and when he arrived knew only one English word-painter.

He was rewarded with a large brush and tin of black tar, and spent the next few months painting the insides of gearboxes.

Now both Stephen Moor and his Strathfield studio, the Ars Sacra (Sacred Art), are renowned among architects for their work in traditional and modern styles, using new and old materials.
